Auto Insurance

Auto insurance is mandatory across the country – with good reason. An auto insurance policy provides property, liability and medical coverage to people who are injured or whose property is damaged. It also protects you from potentially catastrophic financial loss if you are involved in an auto accident.
Auto insurance safeguards you in the following ways:
- bodily injury liability, which protects the driver, policy holder and passengers who are injured in a car accident or who cause injury to other people. You and members of your immediate family listed on the policy are covered, too, when driving someone else’s vehicle without his or her permission. Should your policy provide minimum liability coverage, you could be financially devastated if you are sued or cause a serious accident. For that reason, Woodhome Insurance Group advises clients to purchase greater coverage than the minimum your state requires. Doing so will safeguard your finances after an accident.
- medical payments and personal injury protection, to cover the costs of caring for the driver and passengers of the policyholder’s car when an accident occurs. Some policies also will cover lost wages and funeral costs when someone is injured or killed.
- property damage liability coverage , which insures you against the cost of damages you or another driver of your car cause to someone else’s property, such as lamp posts, telephone poles, buildings, fences or other structures.
- collision coverage, which covers the damage caused to your car in an accident, including damage from potholes. The size of your deductible to cover repairs is inversely proportional to the size of your premium.
- comprehensive coverage, which covers your car being stolen or when it is damaged by something other than a collision with another car or object (fire, falling objects, flying rocks, explosions, hail, vandalism, etc.). Comprehensive insurance also covers you when your windshield is cracked or shattered. Some policies offer full glass coverage as an option.
- uninsured motorist coverage , which covers your being hit by an uninsured driver or are the victim of a hit-and-run accident. This coverage will reimburse you, a member of your family or a designated driver. This coverage also protects you when you are hit as a pedestrian.
- underinsured motorist coverage, used when an at-fault driver has low limits and, therefore,
- does not have enough insurance to pay for the costs to repair your vehicle, or
- does not have enough coverage to cover all your medical expenses and your lost wages because of time missed from work.
- This coverage, too, protects you when you are hit as a pedestrian.
If you would like to purchase auto insurance, consider this: Combining your auto and homeowners insurance can save up to 30 percent.
